Being born in a country that no longer exists, no wonder I ended up being a person who considers entire world his home. Joking aside, growing up in Dubrovnik, Croatia countryside (or King’s Landing as it is now more commonly known) has provided me with a happy childhood with lots of friends. But the seed of wanderlust must have been planted early as I enrolled into a Nautical school, of which Dubrovnik has a strong tradition. (Think: school for ship Captains). That steered me to become first a Cadet, then an Officer aboard Merchant Navy ships, meaning cargo ships. It opened the whole world to me. After sailing on cargo ships for 4 years, when I least expected it, an opportunity appeared to join a Cruise ship company, my dream job. Just few days after New Year of 2015, I made it, I was there. Little did I know, that in mere days I would meet the woman of my life as well! Since then, Sherry and I have traveled across Asia, Europe, US and parts of Central America, set ourselves on a path towards financial independence, bought our first investment property, and oh, got married! I am still with my Cruise Line, currently as 1st Officer and very excited for the future! Since July of 2018, our Mini-Mariner has joined us on our Mariners' Journey!

I grew up half of my life in Taiwan and the other half in Midwest of the U.S. Having to adapt at a young age to such drastic culture shock, it developed me to have a flexible outlook on where to be next. I welcome a lifestyle where no location has to be the permanent ‘home’. During my university days in Boston, I had the chance to study abroad in Hong Kong and the U.K. and haven’t stopped moving since. My degree was in Economics and Business Administration but was always drawn to the world of hospitality. Job opportunities took me to Shanghai, Melbourne, on an cruise ship in the Caribbean, and eventually to Southeast Asia where, on international waters, I met my husband Ivica! After 5 years of constantly on the move, I took on a role as Finance Analyst for a tech-giant company in Shanghai. Since July of 2018, baby boy joined us on our journey and we have been on the road once again! My passions include all things real-estate, food, books, non-fiction movies, acapella shows, and attending the World Expo every 5 years! Our current goal is to reach Financial Independence by 2020 and build up a portfolio that can provide passive income and give us the freedom of having to work only if we want to. Join us on this journey as we write to you all about the ups and downs of reaching financial freedom! Hope you can learn a thing or two and we welcome any words of wisdom along the way!
